Researching to ensure no copyright infringement before publication of my book, “Connecting the Dots … with The RESPECT PRINCIPLE” revealed the term, The Respect Principle, had also been coined by a California author, James Bauer, but further investigation into his work and book, What Men Really Want, revealed the term’s application is significantly different so there is no copyright infringement.
James uses the concept of the respect principle as a value, something desired, rather than a principle, a universal truth or foundational law, in his self help books. His focus suggests men want respect more than love … they want to be respected … admired for what and who they are first; yet there is a significant distinction between respect and admiration. My research to discover something that could be used a universal principle revealed there are several dictionaries and thesauruses that consistently present the idea that respect simply means “to value” whereas admiration “is looking up to someone for reasons beyond him or her just being a life … a human.”
Which is why I chose respect … being valued … as the principle to serve as a foundation to cross all boundaries … sex … religion … politics … race … economics, etc. … because I believe every person … man … woman … youth … child … wants and deserves to experience feeling valued and respected … and this is why the concept of respect serves as the foundation of my concept, book, and global initiative, “Connecting the Dots … with The RESPECT PRINCIPLE.”
As a result of my recent investigation regarding his and my use of the same phrase, the respect principle, his not-capitalized, The Respect Principle, and mine capitalized, The RESPECT PRINCIPLE, but mine also as part of the title, “Connecting the Dots … with The RESPECT PRINCIPLE” I discovered there is no conflict of interest because as with many other people’s work, James Bauer’s book is an additional educational, inspirational tool, though not a foundational application within the same context, to build higher “RESPECT LEVELS” for one’s self, life … and for the interactions and relationships we have with each other and for that I am grateful … because everybody’s gifts, talents, and abilities are valuable and needed to make our world a better place.
“Connecting the Dots … with The RESPECT PRINCIPLE” can be used as a self help tool too, but it reaches far beyond the genre and into the heart and soul of the challenge every human faces … being valued … respected … for just being a life … a human being. Respect in “Connecting the Dots … with The RESPECT PRINCIPLE” is a principle … a foundational truth … a universal law to be established “Because every child … every person … should know by their own experience … they are valued … RESPECTED.”
