Funny How Dates Stick with Us, Even After a Lifetime Goes By …

In 1971, on January 11th, at age 16, I officially quit high school to marry on February 5th, 1971, a handsome, charming man, three years older than me, who swept me off my feet, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Of course, in retrospect, because of all the personal work I have done to heal, grow, and change, on a deeper level I also realize I married him because I needed an escape from the problems I did not know to deal with or solve.

And on the deepest level I mistakenly chose someone who added and magnified the problems I did not know how to deal with in a good way.

Gratefully, by age eighteen, almost broken in body and spirit, enough wildness rose up to break away, though it took many years, many mistakes, years of my hurting people because of my brokenness, and much personal work to finally heal and become the whole loving person I knew in my heart I was meant to be. Sweet Amen!
