“9 Out of 10 People Are Willing to Earn Less Money to Do More MEANINGFUL WORK”

Jaded by corporate culture in the 90’s, my journey to create a more meaningful life has been filled with the alternate, which unfortunately has also included several returns to school, low hourly wages, part-time jobs, no benefits, contract work, and questionable business practices.

Didn’t help my quest financially when I needed to divorce as part of the change because he didn’t understand, like, and didn’t want to be part of the journey I was embarking on.

Of course, I would not have had to embark on such a journey if, in my younger years, my different-from-my-community’s aspirations had been pursued instead of getting sidetracked by what other people and society said I should want because of what they valued … respected.

As this shared article reveals, I am not the only person who became jaded or who didn’t even have to become jaded to make alternative choices in order to enjoy life more and thrive.

Fortunately, albeit twenty years later, the work I truly wanted to do has become a reality and one day all the low wages, lack of benefits, and disrespectful circumstances will be only a memory.

What does my organization do? Helps people discover and value who they are and what their talents are, plus inspires them to live the best life for them to thrive … because I know the high prices we all pay when we don’t.

“EVIL THRIVES WHEN Good People Do Nothing”

A recent municipal election here in a small community in Canada recorded the lowest voting level of just under 26%.

Hopefully, in the United States tomorrow, good people will step up and record the best voting ever to reveal what American value most … social accountability too rather than just money.

Sad thing for us in the province Ontario in Canada is coming to terms with the same mentality that empowered the new conservative Ford government that is also driven by the dollar sign rather than the combination of fiscal responsibility and social accountability.

“Cutting Edge as the Bleeding Edge: AVOIDING BURNOUT on Your Path to Success”

The phenomenon of burnout is not confined to the corporate circles alone. Plenty of it exists in the world of entrepreneurship as well. There is a constant pressure for founders and startups to keep the company in the limelight and on the radar of people that matter. Lack of resources and bootstrapping takes a toll that they are afraid to admit for fear of being deemed a failure.

Being at the cutting edge of things is often deemed a virtue, but the cutting edge is also the bleeding edge and we have to learn to manage how deep the cut goes.

Total burnout never happens without warning signs. Exhaustion, lack of interest in non-work-related life, sleeplessness, nagging anxiety about nothing, unfulfillment and overwhelm are signals that demand attention. Often people ignore these signs and consider them normal tradeoffs of the demanding schedules of today. This line of thinking itself is toxic.

NOVEMBER … The IMPORTANT MONTH for Democracy and Humanity

This month, November 11th, we remember and honor those who fought for freedom in the past with Remembrance Day.

This month in the present and for the future, Americans vote on November 6th, to show the world what they value most.

And our own Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, had this to say about democracy and freedom in his book … “I made it clear that the Liberal Party needs to be a liberal party. By that I meant that the core values of liberalism–equality of economic opportunity and diversity of thought and belief, which I see as the building blocks of individual freedom, fairness, and social justice–ought to be cornerstones of the Liberal Party and its policies. I said that we needed to be a party that stood up for people’s rights to have a real and fair chance at success, regardless whether they were born rich or poor, where they come from or what, if any faith they professed.

It’s one thing to say these things in the abstract, it’s quite another to put them into practice.

Personally, I think diversity is Canada’s greatest success stories.
