Seven years of corporate work in a Canadian head office for an international company based in San Francisco has proven, in hindsight, key to my becoming a successfully focused entrepreneur growing a social business venture to meet a global social need not being met.
One of the most long-lasting, helpful effective tools was an organizing, prioritizing course by Day Timer that I recognized in the linked article below, was based on the Eisenhower Box.
The television series Elementary, through the modern-day Sherlock Holmes character, reminded of one of the key components of prioritizing is not filling one’s mind with irrelevant data or unimportant information, but rather to learn to be very selective in order to save time, memory space, and learning skills for what is important and pertinent to what one is trying to achieve, which is a key tool in today’s information age, rather than just a replica of a data base computer program that is only capable of storing information, not doing anything productive with the information.
James, thanks for the reminder in your article about how to determine what is urgent, important, to be passed on, and to be ignored and/or trashed.
Wishing you a successful, productive, and satisfying 2019!
