Finally having the quiet time and space I need have I been able to finish connecting all the dots for my healing to be complete.
The final dot completing the picture was understanding that the many ways I experienced trauma from a young age through adulthood was mostly due to my unusual personality type and people’s lack of awareness of the reality of different personality types, learning styles, communication styles, and even love languages of an individual.
This fact is particularly dangerous to the minority of people who are different from the majority and for me, resulted not just in PTSD, but layers upon layers of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) that resulted not only in impairing my Emotional Intelligence, but also my inability to function in healthy ways, including but not limited to, with people and money.
In my thirties, physical health problems, relationship, and work problems resulting from unprocessed pain and anger made it impossible for me to ignore what had happened and what was happening.
Healing started when I started to write, stopped when I stopped writing, and resumed once I started writing again. On reflection, the little poem, Dusted Dreams, I wrote as part of my awakening/healing, which I naively thought I wrote at the time because I was healed, was actually prophetic because it was more about the sojourn I was about to take and would complete one day, which I have, thanks to persistence and to God.
My experiences, studies, and research are what drive me to change the way we see, judge, and interact with each other to prevent preventable PTSD and its costly impact, though not just the dollar impact, but all the collateral damage too … the people we hurt because we are hurting.
