This Canada Day (July 1st) We Honour The Discarded Children and Their Families

Written in response to the continued discovery of an increasing number of Indian children’s unmarked remains on residential school grounds. Influenced by the Catholic Church, the Canadian government removed children from the their families to force the children to dismiss their own beliefs and replace them with Catholic beliefs.

How would we feel if it was our families, our children, who were ripped away from us, neglected, abused, and discarded so disrespectfully as the people who were on this land before us?

Please remember …

COMPASSION is defined as “pity for the suffering or distress of another with the desire to help or spare.”

EMPATHY is defined as “intellectual or imaginative apprehension of another’s condition or state of mind without actually experiencing the feelings of the other.”
