When I first conceptualized “Respect as a Principle” to address …

Talking about my idea to an acquaintance, she asked me, “What if someone stole your idea?”

I smiled and replied, “That would prove they did not get the concept.”

With the concept initially recorded several years ago as the idea behind the non-profit corporation I founded as “It is All About Respect, Inc.” I closed the non-profit and renamed the initiative, “Connecting The Dots With The Respect Principle,” and registered the company as my sole proprietorship that will one day become a Limited Liability Partnership.

From the beginning I attracted encouragement from several people, but I also attracted naysayers. What surprised me the most though were the people who wanted to take my work and run with it … without paying for my years of study, research, and experience, nor my creative efforts in discovering, naming, and writing based on the concept. And the people who wanted to take my work were professionals who saw the potential and wanted to take the credit as well as infringe on my copyright for their gains. A few memorable examples include a friend, who obviously was not a friend, a social worker, a community organization employee, and a consultant.

I used to worry about the theft of over 25 years work, but thankfully, as someone who has finally put my faith in God and His protection, because this was His idea anyway when I yelled at Him during my dark night of the soul and demanded, “If you exist, give me a purpose or take me home!” now I do not.

So, here I still am, 25 years later, healed and prepared to go all the way transforming respect from a discretionary value to a global principle by helping people to understand why the concept … the idea … the philosophy is sound … logical, practical, and compassionate.

Stay tuned!

My Covid-19 Vaccine Excitement!

My personal preference is to do what I can to stay … to be healthy without medication.

Aging though, presents new challenges. What our bodies could once tolerate, no longer does the body give us a pass on. We have to make changes to our lifestyle, diet, managing stress, and managing aging.

After experiencing some scary health challenges in my thirties, I made some radical changes. I quit smoking, drinking coffee and most alcohol, plus left both a working and home environment that was adding to the problems versus helping.

A delayed child and teen hood fostered what seemed like a midlife crisis, but in reality was a period of deep discovery and healing. And since there was much to heal from, the journey was long, though it became longer as a result of putting my life and dreams on hold in 2011 when I moved back to be there for our dad until his passing in 2015. My health took another severe hit then that is only now finally being resolved as I get back on track with a healthy diet, a return to my yoga/pilates practice, and a new psychological/spiritual way to manage the stress of current financial challenges due to the debt I incurred to be with my dad, living accommodations, and lack of a vehicle in a community without public transportation.

Maybe it is because I have previously volunteered for clinical Phase II trials in Toronto that tested medications either on products already on the market or a competitive new product that getting the vaccine does not bother me. What bothers me more is having to take medication on a regular basis because after reading about all the potential side effects from available products already on the market, I prefer to keep changing my choices as my body changes with the aging process.

So, after booking my COVID-19 vaccine for the first week of May and late August I am excited to be doing my part to help solve the pandemic problem, to not infect anyone, and to free me from having to endure a lot of other medication and procedures were I to be become ill with the virus and its complications.

I also feel freed from having to stay in my kitchenless, bathtubless studio living space once the means arrives for me to move on … hopefully much sooner than later. May would be awesome, but patience is a new friend of mine.

And since I now have faith in God to take care of me, as I realize He always has, fear of science and a vaccine, is nonexistent … because all good things come from God and anything not from Him, He protects me from, which is a very comforting, uplifting way to live no matter what comes … because I know where I am going when all is said and done. I love and am greatly relieved to be living this way than the fearful life I have lived most of my life.

So, here’s hoping my experiences, knowledge, and words get you excited too! If yes, let’s get vaccinated together and then we will all be able to get back together and back to work much sooner than much later.

Take care. Be Safe. Protect yourself and others … because everyone matters.

Lamentations and Condolences Are Not Enough

If we want a better, safer world to live in, for us and for the next generations, we must get over our politics, our religion, our race, our sex, and anything else that divides us to the point we become coldhearted about anyone or anything we don’t approve of or don’t like. Consciously choosing to see past our prejudices means choosing to recognize every life as valuable and to get on with making the changes so everyone knows by experience they are valued too.

Why Respect for All is the Most Logical, Practical, and Compassionate Tool for Peace

Love, of course, the unconditional kind, is the ultimate tool for peace, but based on the state of our world with all of its conflict, strife, and division, humanity has a long way to go before unconditional love becomes the new normal.

Personal experiences and the stories of others who had or were also suffering needlessly at the whims of others wracked me constantly with sadness and outrage for those harmed by ignorance, prejudice, and their own woundedness, acknowledged or not.

I inherently knew we needed one simple tool that the majority could buy into by choice. One simple tool that would entice the majority because of its social, economic, safety, security, and environmental impact. One simple tool with the power to slip beyond the boundaries of race, religion, politics, sex, class, etc. One simple tool with common sense and compassion merged together.

The answer that rose up from my core was the idea of transforming respect from a “value” to a “principle” that eventually became my thesis, Connecting The Dots With The Respect Principle. The thesis resulted in several essays, books, a play, and will grow into a worldwide social business venture as funds allow … or should I say as people help make it happen.

Maybe these desperate times of the pandemic will motivate people to do things differently … to work together for the common good as well as for the good of themselves.

Here’s hoping … and while I am waiting for help, well, I will keep doing my part to help make the world a better place for all people.
