The Often Unrecognized Power of Our Words, the Impact, and the Consequences

Important information that is not only for writers.

Plus, gossiping can also result in being slapped with a lawsuit for slander or libel.

The old saying “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will not hurt me,” is often untrue for only the most secure, confident people who will not be greatly affected; however, even then the words will sting even if only briefly, because no one likes to be hurt by the words and actions of others.

When We Expect People to Be Like Us …

When we expect people to be like us, we do not allow people to be themselves; therefore we make life more difficult for us all. Of course there are important social norms that allow us to function as a collective, but when those social norms restrict individuality, those same social norms inhibit or prevent our ability to be humane.

SIMPLY …

English words often have more than one meaning, which can even include contrary meanings, but when I researched the word “respect”, all definitions included the words “to value.” Since I was searching for a word, a concept that would cross all boundaries and reflect the belief every person is valuable simply for being a life, respect became a philosophy, has been adopted as principle, and now drives the global initiative because …

A DAY TO REMEMBER

Every day we live is a day to remember

What kind of day depends on many things.

Things we cannot control…

  • Who loves us
  • Who does not love us
  • Who values … respect us
  • What people think of us
  • What people say about us
  • How people treat us
  • Our surroundings
  • Our circumstances
  • The state of our community
  • The state of our country
  • The state of the world

Things we can control

  • Whom we love
  • Whom we love who does not love us
  • Whom we value … respect
  • What we think of people
  • What we say about people
  • How we treat people
  • How we deal with our surroundings
  • How we deal with our circumstances
  • How we impact our community
  • How we impact our nation
  • How we impact the world

Everyone contributes to the world we share because everyone matters

How does not even matter as much as why we do what we do

Because at the end of the day peace only comes to those whose motives are good
