Connecting The Dots With The Respect Principle’s mandate is to serve as a social business venture, a for-profit self-sustaining private business to address social, economic, and environmental needs and challenges.
Founded and still a sole proprietorship because of start-up setbacks, the goal is to become a limited partnership, similarly to a legal firm. The reasons for this choice are:
- To ensure profit remains a tool to achieve the social business venture’s goals rather than profit becoming the primary goal
- To retain all intellectual capital rights to ensure the intellectual capital owned remains solely-owned by the social business venture and/or by the future foundation
- To be a for-profit company in order to be self-sustaining and not swayed by politics, sponsorship, etc.
